Reverend Richard Bray St Anne’s Limehouse Rector and Campaign Chair
Rev Richard Bray has been the Rector of St Anne’s since 2014 and is chair of the Hawksmoor300 Campaign Board. He has been in full-time Christian ministry since 2002 and previously worked for the Financial Times. He is married to Jenny, and they have four children.
Dr Fariba KellawayCampaign Director
Dr Fariba Kellaway was appointed as the Campaign Director in July 2023 to oversee and direct all aspects of the Campaign during the Development Phase. This includes raising funds and pledges worth £3.6m towards the total target of £7.3m for the restoration of St Anne’s Limehouse. Fariba has over 25 years’ experience in leading capital campaigns and fundraising departments in the UK charity sector, including at ‘Royal Society of Arts’, ‘Moor House School & College’, ‘University of East London’, and ‘Together for Mental Wellbeing’. She has a PhD in ‘Globalisation and National Identity’ from London School of Economics.
Peter HoggCampaign Board member
Peter Hogg is a Chartered Building Surveyor and Project Manager with over thirty years professional practice experience and a passion for historic buildings and their preservation. Having been closely involved in the restoration and renewal of one Hawksmoor church in London – St Luke’s Old Street – he is delighted to apply his acquired knowledge to the ambitious plans for St Anne’s. Peter brings commercial as well as technical acumen to the board, having been a partner in global engineering, design and project management consultancy, Arcadis, for twenty years. Peter is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts. He is a Trustee of Care for St Anne’s, a Freeman of the City of London and chairs the London Council of the CBI.
Paul WhitnallCampaign Board member
Paul is a member of the St Anne's congregation, a trustee of Care for St Anne's, and a long-term resident of East London. A senior charity manager for the past 30 years, he has long service as the ‘Buildings for Mission Adviser’ in Chelmsford Diocese. Accordingly he knows the overlapping worlds of church, heritage and fundraising well. Paul enjoys facing the multiple challenges of mission, viability, and relevance our project brings forward.
Philip ReddawayCampaign Board member
Philip had a long career in the London advertising business in the field of communications strategy, and a second career as a wine educator and wine tour leader in France where he lived for 15 years. Now living in Limehouse with his family, adjacent to St Anne’s, he found becoming involved in this remarkable building irresistible. He is Chair of the Care for St Anne’s management committee, and has led the NLHF bid team on partnerships, community consultation, as well as developing a volunteer team to open the church to visitors.
David MaerzCampaign Board member
David is a member of the St Anne’s congregation and serves on its Parochial Church Council. He is also a member of the Care for St Anne’s board. Prior to his retirement in early 2023, David was a Senior Vice President at one of the largest FTSE 100 corporations. David and his wife have recently made the Docklands their home. They have four adult children and two grandchildren.
Dr Christopher TurnerCampaign Board member
Dr Christopher Turner is Keeper of Art, Architecture, Photography and Design at the V&A Museum and a resident of Limehouse. He was Founding Director of London Design Biennale in 2016, and the Artistic Director in 2018. Turner studied Anthropology, Archaeology and History of Art at the University of Cambridge and has a PhD from the University of London. A former editor of Modern Painters and Icon, he writes for the London Review of Books, Literary Review, Guardian and Apollo on architecture, design and culture.
